Features

Lightly burned magnesium oxide lead (MgO) scientific name of magnesium oxide, commonly known as diamond bitter soil, lightly burned powder lead, magnesium oxide powder. Density 2.94, light yellow or white powder. Melting point 2852ºC, boiling point 3600ºC. Soluble in acid and ammonium salt, insoluble in water and ethanol. Specific surface area is 180m2/g at calcination temperature of 400°C. Specific surface area is only 3m2/g at 1300°C. It is easy to deliquesce in air.
Lightly fired magnesium oxide, also known as lightly fired magnesium powder, is a white powdery compound with a variety of important properties and functions, including:
Insulating properties: lightly fired magnesium oxide has good insulating properties and can be used to make cable insulation and insulating boards.
High temperature resistance: Lightly fired magnesium oxide remains stable at high temperatures and can therefore be used as a high-temperature material, such as in metallurgy, ceramics and chemical equipment.
Flame retardant: Due to the insulating and high temperature resistance of lightly fired magnesium oxide, it is also often used as a flame retardant, added to plastics, rubber and other materials to improve its flame retardant properties.
Acid-base neutralization: Lightly burnt magnesium oxide can react with acidic substances and play the role of neutralization, so it is used to manufacture neutralizing agents and acid-base balancing agents.

Application 

Light magnesium oxide is mainly used in the manufacture of ceramics, enamel, refractory crucibles and refractory bricks. Light magnesium oxide can also be used for abrasives, adhesives, paints and paper fillers, chloroprene rubber and F rubber accelerator and activator, mixed with magnesium chloride and other solutions, can be made of magnesium oxide cement. In medicine, it is used as antacid and laxative for hyperacidity, stomach and duodenal ulcer. Also used in glass, dyes, phenolic plastics and other industries. Food grade is used as decolorizing agent in sugar refining and pH adjusting agent in ice cream powder.
