The chemical formula of scandium oxide is Sc2O3. Property: white solid. It has cubic structure of rare earth sesquioxide. Density: 3.864. Melting point: 2403 ºC± 20 ºC. It is insoluble in water and soluble in hot acid. It is prepared by thermal decomposition of scandium salt. It can be used as evaporation material for semiconductor coating. Make variable wavelength solid-state lasers, high-definition television electron guns, metal halide lamps, etc.

Applications

1. Converted with pure Sc2O3 to ScI3 and made with NaI to make a new third-generation electric light source material, and processed into scandium-sodium halogen lamps for lighting (each lamp uses Sc2O3 ≥ 99% of the material is 0.1mg ~ 10mg.
