Nickel sulfate hexahydrate is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula NiSO4 · 6H2O. It is mainly used in the electroplating industry as a catalyst for nickel plating, hydrogen absorption in hardened oils, nickel production catalysts, paint drying agents, and as a mordant for fabric reduction printing and dyeing. It is also used as a metal coloring agent for batteries, ceramics, and in the manufacture of other nickel salts.

Applications

Mainly used in the electroplating industry, it is the main nickel salt for electroplating nickel and chemical nickel, and also the source of metal nickel ions. It can dissociate nickel ions and sulfate ions during the electroplating process. Spherical nickel sulfate prepared by precipitation can be used as a positive electrode material for nickel iron batteries, nickel cadmium batteries, nickel hydrogen batteries, and lithium batteries.
